Duties of the Role
We seek to appoint a full-time, permanent Lecturer in Heritage Studies. The successful candidate will engage in individual and/or collaborative research activity that is in keeping with REF criteria; generate external research funding appropriate in scale to career stage; teach UG and PGT modules in Heritage Studies and related subjects; direct BA and MA courses in Heritage Studies; lead on new course and module development; and supervise student projects.
The post holder will undertake a full range of Education, Research and Leadership and Citizenship responsibilities and duties as detailed in the job pack.
Skills and qualifications required
Candidates must have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in Heritage Studies or a closely related discipline. Essential requirements for the post include: evidence of research excellence; experience of teaching in a higher education environment or demonstrable potential for excellence in teaching; ability to contribute teaching and supervision in Heritage Studies.
While the area of expertise within Heritage Studies is open, applications from specialists in the following areas are particularly welcome: digital heritage; critical heritage studies; museum studies; heritage and visual culture; heritage and human rights; heritage and environment/sustainability; heritage and decolonisation.
Appointment to this post will be made as Lecturer (R), on a teaching and research contract. Please note that this post is different from the previous advertised fixed-term education focused post, which it replaces.
