Essex Business School now seeks to strengthen the Group by appointing an outstanding candidate at the Professorial level.
Duties of the Role
This appointment will enhance the educational and research profile of Essex Business School as one of the premier business schools in the UK.
The post-holder will contribute fully to the development of the Group and School through research and teaching in International Business and Strategy. This new post will strengthen yet further the recruitment of high-quality students, the experience of students on undergraduate and master’s programmes, and students’ employment prospects. You will strengthen the Group’s and School’s research reputation by publishing excellent, impactful research and by gaining research income from external funders. The successful candidate will also help to mentor other colleagues to help them to improve their published work, research bids, and education that they provide to our students. This key appointment will play a vital role in developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, enhancing students’ employment prospects, and extending the School’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally.

Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have a distinguished academic record, including internationally excellent research and success in securing and managing substantial research grants and you will hold a relevant doctoral-level research degree or equivalent professional experience or practice.
You will complement and strengthen the teaching and research activities in International Business and Strategy, one of the Group’s key research areas and will also have a demonstrable ability to establish effective organisational policies and/or strategies to support and promote others in delivering excellence in research and education, including enhancing the student experience and students’ employment prospects.
Strong organisational, communication, interpersonal skills and a strong, sustained record of academic publication at international or world-leading levels of recognition, with evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes are essential.
This is a permanent, full-time post on an ASER (teaching and research) contract and appointment will be made as Professor (R).
