An opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join the Institute for Social and Economic Research working in the Understanding Society Communications Team. The post plays a key role in supporting and delivering communications activities and online content for Understanding Society, a major national longitudinal survey covering 40,000 households across the UK.
Duties of the Role
Working with the Communications Manager, this post will ensure Understanding Society delivers the impact which is expected by our funders, the University, and the external research community. The post holder will produce digital and print content for various formats, including the web, social media, blog posts and traditional print publications and reports. You will also have primary responsibility for quality control of content for all web-delivered services, including editing and proofing content, ensuring web standards compliance and monitoring and analysing web statistics.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful candidate requires an undergraduate degree and communications qualification or equivalent experience, an interest in social and economic issues and a good understanding of social science research, plus an awareness of current affairs and the news agenda. The role requires demonstrable experience of producing high quality and accessible content, including news articles, features and study-related information and the ability to work wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with the researchers who lead the study and be part of a wider communications infrastructure within ISER and the University and will be required to network with other longitudinal studies, academic and policy networks.
This post is fixed-term until 31/10/2023 to provide maternity cover. The role is part-time for 28.8 hours per week (0.8 FTE), although we can consider 21.6 hours per week too (0.6 FTE).
